This year’s edition of the OW2 conference, held in Paris on June 14-15, 2023, focused on the main theme “Open Source Software and Digital Commons“.

KNOWAGE ,contributed to the event with one speech:

On Wednesday 14, “KNOWAGE and AICS for 2030 agenda SDG goals monitoring“ held by Filippo CasettaModroni, KNOWAGE Consultant. He presented a platform that is probably unique in the world and will allow both the Agency and the public to access all the major indicators on the UN Sustainable Development Goals provided by international sources (World Bank, WTO, ILO..) and easily compare them. The solution will allow analysis to start from 3 different touch points: the infographic of SDG goals, the advanced search criteria, and the virtual assistant. Then, a customized dashboard will be provided to the user, allowing to further expand the analysis by interacting with charts, maps, tables, etc.
The talk has shown the state of art of the solution, highlighting objectives and expected results of the project, but also the new developments of KNOWAGE related to AI.

On October 6-7, 2022 Big Data & AI Toronto gathered together around 5500 IT decision-makers and data innovators, allowing them to explore and discuss insights, showcase the latest innovative projects, and connect with other data and analytics professionals.

On October 6th at 15:30, in the AI Demo stage, Grazia Cazzin (KNOWAGE Director) hold the demo presentation “Successful analytics and business intelligence with full open source stack – solutions and use cases from various industrial markets“. She showcased several real use cases from energy, healthcare and manufacturig sector, where big data, AI, cloud and Iot have been combined in end-to-end solutions.

Thanks also to the participation of colleagues from Engineering USA, KNOWAGE booth has been the a place to discuss recent technologies, fields of use and future scenarios, confronting with a multidisciplinary, stimulating and creative team.

The contacts collected and the ideas generated during the event will allow various Canadian companies to enhance their business thanks to open source business intelligence solutions.

The last edition of the OW2 conference (June 8-9, 2022), focused on the main theme “Reliable and predictable Open Source“.

The event provided stimulating talks on the future of enterprise #opensource and how to face it, together with updates on the evolution of many OW2-powered projects.

In the opening session, Cedric Thomas and Pierre-Yves Gibello told about the indirect return of open source and the importance of addressing corporate information systems. OW2 Market Readiness methodology and Good governance initiative ensure OW2-powered solutions are solid and ready for market.

KNOWAGE contributed to the event with two speeches, showing the new features realeased in the first half of the year and the novelties that are yet to come. KNOWAGE director presented two real use cases where AI&ML algorithms allowed public entities to have reliable forecast on pandemic trends and manage public services monitoring and respecting social distancing measures.

For the second year, the OW2 conference, has being held as an online open source event. The event involved 45 speakers representing 15 countries with the main focus on the theme “Leveraging the European Open Source Ecosystem“.

Knowage Labs joined the event with two speeches. On Wednesday 23, Davide Zerbetto, Knowage Architect, showcased in exclusive preview the new upcoming features of Knowage 8, the main release that will be available by the end of July. On the same day, Marco Cortella, Knowage Consultant presented two real success stories in big data exploitation in healthcare and energy market.

During OW2 conference, the OW2 Quick App initiative was launched. This is an open collaborative effort by members of OW2 and other contributors lead by Huawei to promote the Quick App technology, an industry-grade implementation of the W3C MiniApp standard. The standard allows advanced services to be made available on mobile phones without having to first install an application.

Moreover, OW2 community announced that it joined forces with the Eclipse Foundation, OpenForum Europe, and Foundation for Public Code towards the OSPO Alliance whose mission is to foster awareness of open source in Europe and internationally and promote the OSPO methodology developed by the OW2 Good Governance initiative.

In the end, the winners of OW2 awards have been announced: LemonLDAP Tool Box won the Community Award, XWiki the Market Award and Zenroom the Technology Award!

This speech will present two use cases that have been managed end-to-end, from data collection to the final use. The first use case illustrates how Knowage adoption helped public health authorities to create a homogeneous system of information and knowledge transfer across all the organization, allowing advanced and multi-dimensional analysis and the evaluation of company performances. The second use case concerns the energy market and energy consumption in buildings: the solution developed with Knowage provides real-time and periodic power consumption feedback, enabling data-driven decisions to save resources and money.

This year, OW2con, the annual conference of the OW2 open source community, is going to be an online event. On June 17-18, OW2online’20, the name of the virtual event, will include one day of online presentations and 1/2 day of break-out sessions. OW2online’20 will offer attendees dozens of presentations and the ability to chat with the speakers.
