Did birt pdf supports foreign languages like Japanese,Chinese etc

Hi

In birt html report for foreign languages characters are displaying fine but coming to birt generated pdf foreign language characters are missing I already change the font  in fontsConfig.xml and fontsConfig_pdf.xml but there is no use of changing the font . Is there any other way to display the foreign character in birt. If at all any other ways to achieve this please suggest me.
