hi, I am writing for a problem that I am having when testing a connection. I have to use the knowage software for a university data warehousing exam. when I connect to the "localhost: 8080 / knowage" site, click on "data source", fill in everything and then click on "test", I get the error "Error
Connection Test failed, please look for more details in log file and check Your parameters ".
How can I solve the problem? thank you very much! I attach the screenshots of the procedure done

Hi lcastiglia96,

it seems that there is something wrong in your data source definition.

In case of jdbc connection you have to specify the url of your connection and driver.

For mysql/mariadb the syntaxs are:

  • JDBC Driver
    • com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
    • org.mariadb.jdbc.Driver
  • URL
    • jdbc:mysql://host1:33060/sakila
    • jdbc:mariadb://host1:33060/sakila
Then set user/password.
To better understand where there is the error go to Knowage folder and then on "log" folder and look at "Knowage.log" file. If checking the parameters you defined into data source detail or looking the log the problem is not cleare, please write again attaching the "Knowage.log".

try to set the following parameters in the data source definition:

  • check the "Use as cache" flag 
  • insert the following URL: jdbc:mysql//localhost:3306/derivato_visita

This should fix the problem.

how can I make sure that an instance of MySQL is running at the specified port number 3306? Maybe I understood the problem: the version of "mysql connector jdk ......." is not good; how can i understand which version to download and use? thanks

Open the task manager by pressing ctrl+alt+del, go to Services tab and check if there is an instance of MySQL or MariaDB with status Running.

maybe you don't have a correct driver..  sql driver or mysql driver check your lib if there are driver.
